Shot to Hell

August 14, 2009

Biggest paycheck ever, and I’m left with squat. Not a fun thing to happen. Thankfully, there was enough to replenish my secondary (computer) savings, plus a little bit extra based on a rough estimate of what should’ve gone in there. Until my emergency fund is better funded, I’ll be keeping the majority of the secondary savings in my checking account as a little extra buffer to avoid overdraft fees.

What is a million times worse, however, is the hell that my insurance deductions and 401k contributions have played with my budget. Hell, I tell you, absolute hell. My snowball has been reduced by $160!

Result? The snowball spreadsheet went from 55 months (March 2014) to 64 months – December 2014!

Sad face

P.S. Hosting the Carnival of Debt Reduction again this weekend, and guess what? I STILL don’t know what I’m doing!

Is there any chance you can earn some extra money online or selling stuff to help decrease the deficit?

Mayb build a smaller goal like bringing in an extra $397 or so to pay off Grandpa. How about $10 a month from surveys or something stupid like that?

Oh I forgot – it is good to have insurance and the 401k – don’t fret about it, it is going to be worth it in the long run. Your doing great!

Surveys annoy me. I’m still a member of a couple survey sites. I used to do them regularly, but I get really pissed off at a page a million items long asking me to rate “very much, kinda, neutral, not so much, hate” over and over again. So I stopped doing them.

Nice math, though – the balance is $397.87.
