Why Must Clothes Be So Expensive?

July 26, 2009 · 0 comments

I’ve been wearing the same pair of jeans for at least a year now. They have served me well, but there’s a hole in the right pocket, one developing on the surface at the bottom of said pocket, and, most of all – they don’t come clean.

I haven’t owned a pair of shorts in years that actually fit me, because I tend not to care for them too much. However, working in a hot warehouse gets a bit, well, uncomfortable wearing jeans.

Getting new boxers is kind of a given. And my belt? It has grown too big, and is falling apart.

Solution: Late night stop at Wal*Mart. I figured I could be in and out while only spending about $50. Turns out I figured wrong. Two pairs of shorts, two pairs of jeans, two packs of boxers, and a belt: $74. Everything was cheap, but with so many items, it added up quickly, apparently. Heck, the most expensive thing was the belt, at $14. Ten dollar shorts, thirteen dollar pants. Yoi…

Good thing PA doesn’t have sales tax on clothing, or it’d be another 5 bucks.
