What I'm Doing...

When A Debt Collector Gets Greedy

I guess I was naive to think that once you make a deal with a debt collection company, and they start taking your money, and then they start taking even more of your money, they’ll leave you alone. Apparently not.

Just as I was pulling out of the alley to go to work, I got a call from the old 416. Naturally, this is a really bad time to answer a phone, so I didn’t. The message left on my voicemail? This is an urgent matter, contact us immediately, and then the lovely recording threatening to take further action if I don’t contact them. It’s as if I’ve been ignoring them or something, and they just got my account two weeks ago. Or something.

We’ll see if they call back tomorrow at a better time and what they have to say. They’re not getting any more money out of me any time soon.

In other news, I finally heard back from the investor. He wants the entire amount in one single payment, and told me to “take my time.” I guess he forgot that he’s already given me several years.

P.S. It now costs $78 to fill up the truck (an spill some on the ground while I’m at it). Learned that by, well, filling up the truck. :-( Thinking maybe I need to throw a couple bucks in to a jar for every 10 miles I put on it so it doesn’t hurt so much.

  • Looking at your graphs on the side bar, I think you are doing amazingly well!

Are you making any extra money on the internet? Just curious, because I have been doing stupid things like MyPoints and receiving GAS cards for BP. Even if you only got 1 every 3 months, it would be a help.

On my other blog 2 nickels making a dollar I track my little income producers. Not making huge money, but trying to bring in an extra $100 a month to build savings/pay down debt.

The only money I’m making right now is ads right here on Debt Sucks. I’ve done a lot of other things online in the past… several businesses included (hence the investor debt), but those industries I was focused on have been drying up. The one that I was actually making a decent amount of money on, I had to shut down through the sheer stupidity of not filing a key tax form with one of my vendors on time.

  • Or get rid of the truck and buy something more economical. :)

  • Dude, debt collectors suck. Tell him you are going to cut his skin off and wear it next time he bothers you…. that should freak him out plenty.

On a side note, I added you to my blogroll… sorry it took so long.
