Budget Blown

June 11, 2009 · 0 comments

I don’t even want to run the numbers, because I’m afraid of what I might find, but my budget for this week and next (that being, my weekly $50 allowance) is already shot to hell.

Over the weekend I participated in the Ride For Wise. $35 rider fee, plus $5 for the afterparty, plus $2.50 for the half tank of gas in the scooter I burned through that day. Today, I hit the mall before work to get a case and holster for the iPhone. I got the same one my mom got, which is a pretty tough little thing, which I felt pretty necessary considering the fact that I work in a warehouse. $55 or so (more than a week!).

The cats have been in a terrible need for food and litter for at least a week now. I prefer to call it a diet. Either way, food and litter will probably cost me $40-50 altogether. I can’t really put it off any longer. They’re getting mad at me… and annoying, like they tend to when they have no food. Of course, when we went to the grocery store on Saturday, my grandpa asked me if I needed anything for the cats, and as usual, I told him not to worry about it. Of all things, he shouldn’t have to pay for a couple of cats upstairs that he only hears and never sees. I could say the same for the internet, but that’s something I want to hold off on paying for til I can afford to upgrade from DSL to cable.

If I can get by super frugally after I get this next paycheck (a week from tomorrow) then all will be well, but I think I’m going to pull my emergency fund in to my checking account for the time being to avoid any more of those awesome overdraft charges. Funny thing is, I second guessed paying that cable bill several times before finally doing it, forseeing a situation such as this.

On top of all that, what I’m really lacking in is time. It feels like we’ve been working ridiculous hours this week, even though at the end of tonight, with one more day to go, I’m sitting at 35 and a half hours, which is pretty much normal. I’m not expecting tomorrow night to be as short as it usually is, either, since one of our top pickers was suspended for running the spade truck in to a pole. I’ve got work sitting in my inbox that needs to get done. I know damn well though that I’m going to feel bored out of my mind over the weekend anyway.
