An Account Caught Up

May 9, 2009 · 4 comments

After sending them a total of $440 within the past month, my account at AES is finally up to date.

It’s a beautiful sight, isn’t it?

I wish I could say that would be one less debt collector calling me now, but no! I just got a letter from the very same collections company today informing me that the electric company has sent my account their way! According to my budget, I’ll start making payments on that at the end of July. Unless, of course, I decide not to pay the landlord any time soon (which I’m still considering).

On top of that, the Capital One collections company has been calling me again – even though I already have payments set up through them. One of the messages said my account “may now be eligible for IW option.” Nobody knows what the hell this means, but the only thing I can come up with is wage garnishment, which would be a pretty dicked up thing to do considering I am making payments on a plan.

But wait, there’s more! When I went to the credit union to make my loan payment, they informed me that my checking account was closed a long time ago (news to me, but don’t really care), and that it was overdrawn $75, and that I need to make arrangements to take care of it. If that’s the case, why the heck has it never shown on my account online!? I have never seen a negative number on there, it still says zero for my checking, and there’s no history available. Just checked my last statement, and there’s nothing on there about my checking account, either. Oh, but of course, I have to go all the way back to November’s statement to find it. And no wonder I had no clue – they credited the account the amount that it was overdrawn before closing it.

Aye… annoying.

But hey, other than that… those two payments were made with my first paycheck. Work’s good. Sure hope I’m making the quota. I suppose I’ll update the graphs on the sidebar now…

“may now be eligible for IW option” that sounds more like a positive thing than a negative. you should find out what it is. good job on getting caught up!

Right, and he said it in sort of a positive tone amidst the thick Indian accent (which is weird because the call center is in Canada), but the only thing we can think of is income withholding.

If I said you were eligible for the death penalty, would that sound like a positive thing? :-D I think it’s the word “eligible.”
