It’s All About The Numbers

April 26, 2009 · 2 comments

This is exciting.

No, really. I just ran the numbers, and I’ll finally have plenty of money to not only pay all of my own bills, but also to aggressively attack my debt. With gazelle intensity. Like a puma. I just finished a pretty good rough draft of a debt snowball spreadsheet, and assuming no change in income and no major life-changing events, I can be completely debt free in just 50 months. That includes student loans, which it just so happens that it shaves an entire 10 years off of.

After that, I’d have almost $15,000/year to do with whatever I want. How many other people do you know making $10/hr with that much spending money? Of course I’ll be saving a lot of it, but you know what I mean.

Everything will be put off til I get caught up on the bills that I’m behind on, as well as save up an emergency fund. I want to start off with at least $5000 right off the bat – $1000 won’t get me far. The easiest thing to do would be to set it up as a debt in my spreadsheet. After that, I can just let my Automatic Savings Plan on my ING Direct account keep going, and probably increase it quite a bit as it stands at $10/week right now.

Once I get this spreadsheet finalized, I’ll post it here.

P.S. For those who are having the problem with the archive list and whatnot showing up on top of the posts, I have managed to replicate the problem myself – it only does it in Internet Explorer. Firefox and Chrome show everything just fine. I don’t design for IE, because I don’t use it, but I’ll look in to it.

I just downloaded chrome and the problem disappeared. I’m not 100% sure if I like chrome yet. But I like seeing your blog easier!
