Power’s On, Moving Expedited

January 21, 2009 · 0 comments

MetEd’s final shutoff notice was in the form of actually stopping by and hanging it on my door. Naturally, I put it off, but tried calling them on Saturday and, sure enough, that number is for business hours only. This resulted in a somewhat last minute call at 0730 Monday morning (shutoff occurring at 0800 or later). I explained my whole situation to her, and she set me up on a budget plan based on my expected unemployment benefits. As such, my $400 or so balance now becomes a $63/mo payment – 48 for each month, plus 15 to gradually catch up on the balance. What’s this mean for me? That the power stayed on, and that’s about it. Depending on how my moving plans progress, I may be out of here before the next bill even comes, and all they’ve really got for leverage (to begin with anyway) is the threat of your service being shut off. Even so, $63/mo would definitely be doable.

Last night, I was summoned to the station by the chief. The roads up here were fine for two wheels, but once I got in to the city, it was nothing but slush. Wicked. Called my mom while I was there because she wanted to check up on me, told her I was going to be staying at the station overnight due to the roads, and she asked the inevitable questions, one of which was “Do you have food?” Uhh, no, I don’t have food, I’m living out of my change jar right now. After I said that, then I was really stuck at the station for the night, because she told me to stop by in the morning and she’ll give me grocery money (yay!). However, even bigger news than the $40 in my pocket was her suggestion that I move in there as early as this weekend, because, according to her, at least then I’ll have food. I am nowhere near prepared to move that soon. I don’t even have the truck inspected yet, and that’ll sort of be needed for moving purposes.

As far as unemployment goes, they still haven’t given a definitive answer as to whether or not I will really be receiving benefits. However, I just got the debit card in the mail today, and I can’t imagine they’d send that for no reason. I checked, no balance, but then I also realized it was time to file my first biweekly claim – which I did, and was told that payment information is updated the next business day. When the payment is actually sent, though, I do not know, but I guess I’ll find out tomorrow, right?

One thing I haven’t done yet, is check out the top keywords used to get here for 2008. According to Google Analytics, they are:
