Landlord: $400 in 10 days

August 21, 2008

My landlord swung by yesterday to check on the progress of remodeling downstairs, and I used the opportunity to finally talk to him about what’s going on. He offered me construction work, but it sounded like the type of thing that would kill me. So, I told him I’d get in touch with the temp agency today to get some quick warehouse work.

After perusing their website, I emailed them requesting an interview. I’ll call them tomorrow afternoon if they don’t call me by then. The landlord just called me a little bit ago to see how the job hunt went, and I told him. Then he dropped it: I need to pay this month’s rent by the end of the month. Even after I told him I likely can’t get any money from family or friends. That’s $400 I need to come up with in 10 days.

Ideas?

To top it all off, I was changing a tire on my truck today (yay, I did something productive) and noticed that the exhaust pipe has rusted off of the back of the muffler. Not something I would normally be concerned about, but it’s due for inspection this month. Then again, the registration is up this month as well. Hopefully this won’t be a problem, as I rarely ever drive it, so it can just continue to sit there. When it comes time that I have to drive my truck again, though… yikes.
