Crappy Payday A Rent-Saver

August 1, 2008

I got a check in the mail today for my whole 1.5 shifts of work. The booty? $75 (out of $159 in earnings). This is pretty significant, though, as it means I’ll now be able to pay my rent, and have about $28 left to my name. Obviously, this means I now have to go buy a money order from the post office, as I’m sure if I mailed my landlord a check, it’d bounce in 3 weeks when he goes to cash it. Which means I’ve got $50 or so to live on until I get a new job.

I’ll be calling the bank and the vending company tomorrow whenever I bother to wake up, and if those don’t pan out, I’ll head down to the temp agency. Good thing they pay weekly. It’s pretty tough to get out of debt when you’re running around the track the wrong way.

I’ve been considering trying newspaper delivery again as well. At least for a little side money, anyway. Don’t want to get into it though until I know how availability between things goes. This time around, though, I’ll at least have my motor scooter… if I do it, anyway.

Are you able to get a bank cheque? Or does you bank charge more for cheques than the post office’s postal order?
It is such a drag when you have little enough money and then find you have to pay extra like money orders and the like. It really doesn’t seem fair.
All the very best with getting some more work!
