Motor Scooter Might Yet Become Reality

I WANT!

Just when all hope was lost, and I had given up my efforts to stealthily buy my Big Ruckus with my mom’s credit, things are looking up. The trick? I never bothered to tell my mom I had given up. As I was getting my new park ID today, she called me to tell me she was on her way to the DMV to get a motorcycle permit (so that she can be listed as the primary operator, thus making the deal work, in addition to saving hundreds on the insurance – literally). What she didn’t know, however, and I really had to laugh at it, was the fact that there’s a knowledge test for it.

Here I am, laughing again about it. I guess she thought she could just waltz right in, pay the fee, and walk out with a permit, eh? So I told her everything I could remember from the book and the sort of things I had trouble with, and she decided to wing it. Apparently the guy at the DMV had faith in her, too. You can only get 4 questions wrong… she missed 8. So, back home she went, defeated, but this time with the actual book in hand to study. I got a call a little while ago, so she could tell me she got through it once, and was about to start reading it a second time.

Now, once she gets that all squared away and we get the insurance for it, the other issue at hand is the dealer… He’s the reason I gave up. He pretty much flipped out on me over the phone for correcting his time estimate to get there from here. Sheesh. I mean, yeah, I know I’ve basically been a pain in his ass, but does he want my money or not? At issue is that one of the things he said in his little mini tirade was that he would tear up all the paperwork and throw it out. Sheesh, indeed, but this makes me wonder if we’re going to have to reapply, or what’s going to happen. The obvious answer would be to call him after we get the permit and insurance business squared away, but honestly, after that, I’m afraid to. Here’s hoping his wife answers the phone, and manages to take care of everything without him having to get on the phone.

So, now we’re looking at Thursday or Friday. :-( Me so impatient, want ruck around now!

LOL! @ the1chery! I agree, you got a great mom… Sounds like mine…

But really, why a scooter? Why not a motorcyle?

Motorcycles are too loud. And they involve shifting, but mostly the noise. Besides, this one *looks* like a motorcycle, so that’s good enough for me. Plus, it leaves the opportunity to participate in scooter events, plus still retaining the ability to join in general motorcycle rides (one of which I already have planned). Twist & go, baby!
