Emergency Fund to the Rescue!

March 12, 2008

I had to use my emergency fund for the first time yesterday. I suppose it’s my fault, though certainly not on purpose. I checked my account to see if my landlord had cashed my rent check yet, only to that not only didn’t he do so, but my balance was only $475! I immediately transfered $100 from the emergency fund to cover not only the rent, but any other expenses that hadn’t bothered to show up yet. Gave him a call explaining the situation and asking him not to go to the bank until today, and he said he wasn’t going til Friday since he was still waiting for my sister’s check.

Now, my ClearCheckBook said I should’ve had $95 left, after he cashed the check. Obviously I must have missed some transactions, but I checked it back to halfway through last month and couldn’t find the discrepancy. I don’t know what happened, but it’s quite annoying, as well as of course frightening. I sure wouldn’t want my rent check to bounce!

In other news, Appleseed Ex Machina was finally released yesterday. I’ll have to call up my local Wal*Marts to see if either of them have it in. Shame the XBOX 360 doesn’t come with Blu-ray, so I’ll just have to watch it in standard definition. Bummer. If any of you haven’t seen Appleseed, I highly recommend it – it’s on my list of favorite anime films. I’ll probably get the 2 disc limited edition set, as it’s only a few bucks more (according to their website, anyway).
