My interview for the janitor job up at Ingram Micro went very well. He seemed very impressed with me, and even mentioned management opportunities (as well as asking me about my management experience). Once my background check comes back blank, I’m in. It’s a cut in pay ($8 vs $9.31), but it’s also a huge cut in distance and gas costs (4.7 miles vs 37). Figuring an average of 12mpg and $3/gallon, that’s a savings of roughly $323/mo in gas, as well as a heck of a lot less strain and wear on my truck, which is already approaching the quarter million mark as it is. So, while I’ll be making about $200 less every month, it’s really $123 more than I was making before. Ergo, I should finally be making more money than I’ve been spending, thus, for once, allowing me to reduce my debt!

With the overnight shift that I expect to get with this job, I’ll also be able to very easily work at the park at the same time. Checking their schedule, Springtime in the Park is the weekend of April 5th. After that, the regular season incrementally starts to kick in to full swing May 2nd, which means between those two will be all the private parties. All the money I make there pulling 5 hour morning shifts (and maybe some 8+ hour weekends) could theoretically go straight to debt, assuming this janitor gig really does pay all the bills.

Those will be good times, and I can’t wait.

I also couldn’t wait for my shift to end yesterday, as it was my last day working at that hellhole known as Acme.
