Ron Paul Truck Makeover
| They came! Okay, more like I had to go get them at the post office, but the point is, I have them now! |
 |
A nice, neat little package, filled with one thousand Ron Paul bumper stickers |
 |
| So, this is what my truck looked like bright and early this fine Monday morning |
 |
| Yeah, it snowed last night, which means more work for me. The first order of business was to clean as much snow off the truck as I could, while the sun was coming up. After all, the sun can’t dry the truck for the bumper stickers before the snow melts off (or comes off by some other magical random means, such as a large jug of hot water), right? |
 |
| A half hour or so later, I ventured out to check on the moisture content of the surface, and realized that I had it parked under the tree. It was essentially being rained on by snow melting from up above. So, in a sheer stroke of genius… *drumroll* I moved the truck out from under the tree. |
| Alright, it’s just past 10 AM now, and I’ve got two pieces of good news for myself already. One, it’s already warm enough to wear a t-shirt (for those of us who are comfortable doing so with it being 33 degrees out – it really is warm out there, with plenty of sun and no wind whatsoever, even if the thermo does say it’s freezing + 1), and two, although the truck is far from dry, I spotted a few places, even close to entire panels, that are dry and can begin applying bumper stickers to. |
| Close to a week later: It took a couple of days of non-stop work, but it’s finally finished(for the most part)! |
 |
| The white duct tape didn’t come off so well, especially on the hood, so it’s still there… underneath the bumper stickers. I still have a few finishing touches to do now that it’s warmer out there. I might also relocate the yard sign from the back window to the grill – folks behind me can read the stickers just fine, but folks coming at me realy can’t, so that’ll help them out a bit. I’ve already gotten a ton of reactions, especially at work, when the drivers see it as they pull their trucks up to the guard shack for inspection. I also had some guy pull up beside me at the gas station while I was inflating my tires and strike up a mini debate with me, trying to compare Ron Paul to Ross Perot as a spoiler. And let’s face it – the truck does look a whole lot nicer, shinier, and cleaner now. |
| For those wondering: Regardless of the outcome of the election, these are staying on there. With all the work I put in to putting them on, and the pretty good chances of them taking the paint off, and the fact that I’d have to get the duct tape off then too, I’ll not remove them willingly. |

I was just browsing through your blog……
Well I hope I’m not out of line for making this suggestion but, here it goes… Since your involved with the fire police you are probably all ready familiar with the radio traffic from county dispatch! My suggestion is this if your interested apply to be a disptcher for the the county they always seem to be short handed and while the pay isn’t the greatest I think they start out soomehwere around $10 an hour and with all the shortages of manpower I’m sure they have plenty of over time!
Also on other idea…..did you ever consider a consumer credit counseling service? They combine your credit debit into one monthly payment and they usually do it to fit your budget while paying off the high balances and or higher intrest bearing debt first.
Anyway good luck!
[...] as it was a matter of dedication, and I should be proud of it, but…. you know. And I did say way back then that I wasn’t going to take them off. I still don’t want to take them off – it’ll [...]
