What I'm Doing...

What a clown

The carnival’s in town, and I’m invited. Not only did I make it in to this week’s Carnival of Debt Reduction (which I knew last night, when I saw I had gotten a hit from a post preview page on paidtwice.com) but I also managed Editor’s Choice, and to be the very first listed! I’m still working on reading through the other carnival articles, but so far they’re very interesting.

I hit the credit union earlier, and it turns out I can’t close my savings account, as that is what keeps me a member there. Hopefully I can at least pull out $25 that’s locked up in there but really doesn’t need to be. Maybe the other $25 minimum balance should be considered an investment then…

After this pay on Friday, I figure I ought to be able to knock out my GEMB/Paypal Buyer Credit balance with 2 more pay periods, at the most. This $300 and the following $600, might be enough to take care of it. That’s $900 to pay off a $400 balance. I should probably start divvying up that money right now before I even get it, so I’m not left sitting on my ass like I always do for a few days to a week after I get paid wondering what I should do with it.

I’ve been thinking lately that maybe I ought to follow Matt at Debt Chronicles’ lead and move this blog to a hosted domain. As I had discussed with him the night he did that, I really don’t know what I was thinking using the freebie Wordpress service after already having WP blogs hosted elsewhere. It’s so, so, so much better to host yourself, Wordpress.com restricts you in so many ways. When you finally make the move… you’re free! Free to do what you want with your blog, and add all sorts of fun things that you can’t with the free service. Of course, you need to be a little better than Matt is at installing the blog… he had it, then he borked it. Anyway, the one reason I can think of that I used this service for was the community feel – kind of like back in high school when we all used Xanga (yuck). However, due to things such as the Carnivals, I now realize that I don’t need to be on a service site to get that sort of feel – just need to know where to look to promote yourself (while of course churning out quality writing).

Several weeks ago, I cleaned out my truck, way overdue. Today, while sitting at the computer at the same time, I’ve been slowly cleaning and organizing my room. It’s nice to get things cleaned up every once in a while, especially after living so long in a small box of chaos. Actually, the arrival of the cleaning lady this morning sort of prompted me to do it. I figure I had to pick everything up off the floor and toss it on my bed anyway, might as well go through stuff, throw away garbage, and make use of my file bin while I’m at it. I still have applications from the beginning of the summer piled up in one of these desk shelves. A clean and organized room should lead to a clean and organized life, shouldn’t it?

P.S. Grrrr! I found an incredibly awesome hosting deal that I could save a bunch of money by getting because I could move all of my sites to that account and cancel all those hosting accounts but I don’t have the $65 available to pay for a full year which is the only way to pay for it!!! HOW FRUSTRATING!!!

P.P.S. I finally got an email back from ING Direct about their Electric Orange minimum credit score: “Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose our credit scoring criteria.” Pricks!
